A Life Remembered

Obituary

Roger "Dale" Hamblin, a lifelong resident of Mesa, Arizona, went to be with the Lord October 15, leaving behind a rich legacy of devotion to family, hard work, and a genuine love for life.

Born in Mesa on April 4, 1952, Dale grew up as the youngest of ten children—a dynamic that shaped his resilient spirit, his tough cowboy exterior, and the deep capacity for care he carried throughout his life.

Dale’s heart belonged to Arizona and to his high school sweetheart, Lynn. The two met at Mesa High School and shared a blessed and devoted 55 years of marriage. Together, they built a life centered on family, hard work, and hospitality.

For many years, Dale worked in the construction industry, eventually becoming a respected custom home builder. His strong work ethic was legendary, and he was always eager to pass it along to the next generation—often finding opportunities to put his sons, cousins, neighbors, and friends to work on projects around the house. A true cowboy at heart, Dale had horses most of his life. He found immense joy in trail riding, roping, raising cattle, and spending time in the peaceful beauty of the desert and the mountains. He also loved hunting and fishing, spending much of his time at rivers and lakes throughout the state. Above all, Dale loved the company of others. He never met a stranger and was a natural connector who regularly coordinated outings with friends throughout his lifetime. To know Dale was to feel like family; he opened his heart and home to countless others, mentoring young people and earning the beloved titles of "Uncle Dale" and "Papa Dale"—roles he treasured above all others.

Dale is survived by his beloved wife, Lynn Hamblin; his two sons, Clint (Shari) Hamblin and Kyle Hamblin; 4 grandchildren Austin, Ashley, Ellison and Pierce; 5 great-grandchildren; his brother, Larry Hamlin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by eight of his brothers and sisters.

I've never met a kinder and more loving person than Dale . He had such a passion for life. His love for his family and the Lord was inspiring. I like what someone else said...he never met a stranger. Nope, he would be happy to drop what he was doing to help anyone in need. I'm typing this through tears. Dale touched the hearts of so many of us. He will be forever missed. Lynn, my thoughts and prayers go out to you, your boys, and your entire family. May God bless and give peace to the Hamblins. ❤️

He was loved dearly and highly respected by the Lamb family. He was a gentle giant, a man's man, talented and hard working and deservedly successful. He was a gifted horseman who had tremendous ability with an incredible blend of power and finesse. He was humble and encouraging to others and had a great sense of humor. He was an excellent fisherman, boatman and all around outdoorsman. He was a loving husband, father, family man and friend. A generous blessing to so many. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. RIP cowboy and enjoy God's green pastures my friend. Our hearts go out to the Hamblin family, we wish you peace and love during this difficult time. We're sorry that we are unable to attend. Much love from Texas!

Lynn, Clint, and Kyle, you know I loved that Dale. One of my favorite high school memories is sitting around the table at your house, being regaled by stories and feeling both welcome and loved. Dale was one of a kind, and I will miss his zest for life. Wish I could be there with you, and sending love to you all as you celebrate Dale’s life and honor your own grief at his passing. ♥️

My wife and I are devastated by the untimely passing of my long time friend. We have been talking to each other for around ten years. Made contact right after PUNKIN passed. Old Mesa High School friends. He was making plans to go fishing since he got great test results from the cancer . No sign of the disease. Doctor told him to do what he wanted. We traded fishing stories and he was itching to hit the lakes. We talked family and of old times. He never met a stranger and I will dearly miss our conversations. What a great family he had and what a heavenly reunion it must have been!

Dale was supposed to be at a Mesa High School luncheon on Friday, 10/19/26. He died the 10/18/26. I spoke to Dale days before the luncheon (I was coming from Montana), telling him not to come if he was not feeling up to it. He texted me back saying he was actually feeling better and looked forward to seeing me. When showing up at the luncheon I found out he had passed the night before. I was heartbroken. He had in earlier years brought me into his luncheons and Spring Flings, which I came from Montana to attend. He was such a lovely man, who hit it off with my husband Don who was looking forward to seeing Dale again. I love Dale and miss him. I always thought I’d see him again. Lynn, my heart hurts for you and your family. I hope you find some comfort in knowing how Dale was loved and respected. Sincerely, Carla Deal Crtalic.
