A Life Remembered

Obituary

Elizabeth Anne Cannon Cox (Dee Dee) passed away on May 27, 2026, in Mesa, Arizona. She went peacefully surrounded by family.

Dee Dee was born on October 8, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Munn Dalton Cannon and Adrienne Patricia Hogensen. She married Roger Sherrel Cox on May 24, 1980 in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico for 34 years. She was an active member of the church in the Fairway Groves Ward. Dee Dee served in many callings including Young Women’s President, Den Mother, temple ordinance worker and a diligent family history contributor. She served an 18-month mission with her sister, Adrienne, in Melbourne, Australia.

Dee Dee graduated from East High School in 1966. She attended the University of Utah and was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved her children and grandchildren. Dee Dee enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. Whenever she wasn’t serving her family, friends, making quilts for the fire victims, or in the temple, you could find her watching Utah football, any and all golf tournaments or Hallmark Christmas movies all year long.

She is survived by her 3 children: Anthony “Tony” J. (Karen) Cox, Jacob C. (Sara) Cox, Anne “Annie” M. (Josh) Hiatt; 18 grandchildren; and her 8 siblings M. Dalton (Betsy) Cannon, Jr., Craig S. Cannon, Adrienne Higginson, David H. (Sally) Cannon, Robert H. (Robin) Cannon, Caren Cannon, Cathy (Thomas) Howard, Paul D. (Suzette) Cannon.

She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 33 years Roger Sherrel Cox, her parents, and one sister Susanne.

Messages of Love

From family and friends

Trish Walton Thompson June 7, 2026
I love Dee Dee and the Cox family! I have many great memories from my youth with the Cox's. Dee Dee was always loving and caring to our family, and showed interest in what I was doing, and how things were going in my life. One of my recent memories was when my daughter was serving a mission in the Phoenix mission and when Dee Dee found out she reached out to my daughter to see if she could take her and her companion out to lunch! This went the extra mile and meant a lot to my daughter and to me being many miles away and knowing someone was mindful of my daughter. That was a great service and blessing to our family. Love you Dee Dee, Trish
